Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

    To clarify:

EP is not a tri-band area and you don't need an AWS phone to get Evdo. Mogul's and Vogue's are Ev capable.

So no worries everyone it is possible for us to get it.

Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

no- the ability to use the 1700/2100 frequency banRAB is built into the chip by qualcomm and is not present in non-tri-band devices...

only a tri-band device that is built with support for the new spectrum will work.

sorry to burst your bubble...you should really stop trying to figure a way around it, because it is not possible...

now- this frequency band was, i think, a government frequencybefore it was cleared and auctioned...you may be able to find some old gov equipment and use that...lol

that was a joke...even if it was possible, you would likely go to jail

Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

we all know that el paso is not an aws market, but cricket may have indeed launched evdo data services on the aws spectrum...

that would mean that you would need a tri-band phone or aws capable aircard to get evdo, not 1xrt services (talk/text/1x-data)...

that means that your mogul can use all of its potential features other than the evdo feature, as that is being broadcast on a frequency band that the mogul's chip cannot transmit/receive on...

i believe that is what gotbutton was saying, but he can correct me if i am wrong...

i think he is a switch tech for cricket and would go with what he says on the subject

    sorry my el paso homies

Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

if gotbutton said that it launched on aws, then it launched on aws

    he is an authoritative source

i would go 100% with what he says and try an aws device for evdo

do they sell aircarRAB in your market yet?

if so, then evdo is definitely launched...but still may be (unofficially) even if they don't sell them yet

Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

Any idea why my Cricket Q w/generic firmware is staying on EVDO while on a phone call? I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but if it's a frequency that can't be accessed via a non-tri band phone, how come EVDO shows up at all? What in the chipset picks up the EVDO signal if this frequency isn't built in to the phone??? And, what's this thread, mentioned above, all about? Is the El Paso market one, or the only one, to use AWS? One last thing. I have seen posted, and been told by our local Jump, rep that the SID for our area is 4485, but for the last 2 years, everytime I do an OTA (cricket or jump), the SID that the phone pulls is 4717. Pardon my ignorance.

Cricket Broadband In El Paso TX does this mean???

i'd go with gotbutton... he knows what he's talking about. I believe what he is saying is that you do not need an AWS phone to use voice in El Paso, but the EVDO is operating on AWS frequencies and you will need an AWS device to take advantage of EVDO speeRAB.

edit: oh wow randomwit.. i didn't see your post when i posted this.. but yeah..
