    It's Back

I've been reflux free for about a year (taking prescription Prilosec and Pepcid before bedtime). I got sick 4 weeks ago with a regular virus (sore throat, headache, slight fever). After it was over I noticed reflux. This happened before, don't know why a virus sets it off. Now I'm waking up unable to breath at night and getting a sore throat again. I guess the days of eating whatever I want whenever I want are over again. Will stop food after 9PM and see what effect that has.

Had a colonoscopy done, completely normal. Every test I ever had has been completely normal. If everything is so normal how come I don't feel 100%.

    It's Back

Hi neddy. I'm very suspicious about this viral link. I was feeling a-okay until the end of Septeraber when I contracted some kind of virus (sudden onset of low grade fever with a VERY sore throat). No big deal to me; I figured I might have contracted strep (because I work in an elementary school). Now consider this: prior to this "virus" I had been feeling GREAT. No health problems that I knew of, exercising regularly, eating a normal and fairly healthy diet. No known reflux issues. Well, the doc ruled out strep and said I probably just had some sort of virus that would resolve in time. Then it seemed - in the ensuing weeks - that all hell broke loose. I felt like my body was under attack. One symptom piled upon another. Ultimately - after two months of various tests and doctors - an ENT scoped my throat and diagnosed LPR. Now I'm on the PPI therapy, diet and lifestyle moRAB, and trying to heal, BUT I wonder time and time again what in the world triggered this life change for me and if, in fact, I even really do have LPR. One day my body was normal; the next day it was like it had been taken over. Now I'm fighting to take it back.
