Back Ache only when i'm sleeping????

I know what people might think straight away.... buy a new bed, but its not that i've had 3 and still suffer the same problems.

I'm absolutley fine during the day but when I go to sleep at night I wake up 7-8 times a night with shooting pains in my back and I feel like my insides are bruised and delicate. Its really painful but I cant help waking up as I want to turn over but then have massive pain with every movement.
Has anyone else suffered from symptons like this or does anyone have a clue what might be wrong.
My doctor just doesnt want to know, He's not very good and I severly dislike him. Any help will be appreciated thanks.

New bed can give you some sleep trouble for a period time,it's quite normal

But if it is constant.Probably ...you suffer from soft tissue inflammation around your lower back area.
If you come to see specialist, they should find an point in your back,At moment ,there are not very serious,so treat it early,Much easy.

    Good luck

So just a muscle/ligament problem you think? Never thought a simple strain/pull could cause so much discomfort.

So would a physio be my best bet? Or acupuncture? Or does anyone suggest any other alternative remedies?

    Thanks

Hi, actually I think most of us on here wouldnt' just automatically suggest a new bed. Many of us did buy new beRAB when our backs started hurting (I know I did) only to find, as you have, that it didn't solve the problem. I had wasted so much money on new mattresses, mattress toppers (though these do make sleeping more comfortable just in general), every over the counter back pain med I could find, sprays, rubs, gels, even magnets!! LOL

I've not suffered the exact same thing, b/c my back pains would not be only at night. It's possible that you might be having back spasms but of course I can't be sure. And even if it is spasms, you would want to find out what is causing the spasms. It might be some sort of problem in your spine that is positional related, but then again, it could be something not spine related. But whatever it is, it seems like it's related to laying down. There's just many possibilities and the best thing you probably should do is to find a new doctor and have it checked out. In the mean time, you might want to take some ibuprofen or aleve regularly (as directed on teh bottle) and try using ice and/or heat over the area.

How long has this been happening?

Oh wow, 9 months is a long time! I really think you should see a doctor. It if was just a simple pull or strain, I would think it wouldn't last that long. It could be a disc in such a position that it only causes compression while laying down; or there could be something else that's compressing or pushing into something inside near your spine or it even could be away from your spine. But 9 months is a long time and I think would be considered chronic.

I would say 9 months now. I'm just ready to try anything at this stage.

Oh...and when you see a doctor, make sure you tell them exactly how long it's been happening; specifically what causes the pain (like only laying down or if you try to roll over, etc..) tell them anything that seems to make the pain worse and better; try icing the area and using heat on the area to see if that helps at all and tell the doc if any of it helped; tell him you've already tried new mattresses; if you're losing sleep because of it, make sure to tell him that as well...

You're welcome. Yea, you really can't go too long without getting some good sleep, as that will affect all sorts of other things in your body. Plus it can increase your pain. Definitely keep us posted!
