She had prayed for relief
from the deep pain within
but no answer was given
Her love, a lost cause

Years passed achefully
tearing at her soul
each breath such an effort
Gloom and sorrow
now owned her
and she finally gave into both
But both too demanding
too taxing on her spirit
and her now failing body
Severe pains covered her
from head to toe
but especially her heart
Broken to pieces, exhausted
she dragged herself
to the ocean hoping for a sign
or a song to soothe her
Its roaring sound
drowning all the noise of life
and the beating of her heavy heart
For a moment she paused
enraptured by the waves
luring her to them
their embrace seemed so warm
and the maid dreamed
of swimming with dolphins
For the first time in years she smiled...

She knew not how to swim
and yet, she decided to dive
into the infinite peace held
within the dark sapphire blue depths
The last thing her eyes saw
were the lovely white caps
glimmering in the distance
and dolphins dancing in the waves
as she allowed herself to sink

The wild roaring of the ocean
drowning out her lover’s call
as he saw her vanish forever

Thank you Derrick: This is the way I would want to go if I chose to end my life. The ocean has always been a source of relief for me.
Noe; He returns too late in the story to save her. Will not jump in after her but will have to live with that sad memory of her for the rest of his life. That is why time should never be wasted.... we may act too late if we wait.
