I am a student studying Tourism management and dream of being a hotel manager one day. I have the passion and drive, and have traveled to 11 countries before I was 18.

I'm going through some troubles in the first year of my undergraduate program, and am suddenly realizing the mistake of taking my GPA too lightly. Seeing that my average grade IS cumulative, and I am in danger of failing my 2nd semester. I am just wondering how much does one's GPA impact you (especially in the business/tourism industry):

1) When hiring (fresh graduate, miminal experience)
2) When seeking career advancement; a promotion to a managerial/higher up position (say, 10, 15, 20 years into your line of work)

If you have any other suggestions on how to be successful as a manager and a leader, please feel free to share. Thank you for your time!
