How did Chris Mullin get into the HOF on first ballot, and Reggie Miller didn't?

I looked up their stats, and they are almost even in every category, with the slight edge actually going to Miller. And Reggie Miller been to more playoffs, and has been to the finals. He also was a better defender than Mullin.

Basketball HOF voters are idiots. They place too much emphasis on womens, college, and foreign ball players, and they don't know enough about the NBA. That's the reason the NBA needs to set up it's own Hall of Fame.

Mullin was elected to the Hall of Fame in large part because of a better body of work in college. At St. John's he was one of the premier basketball players in the country. I'm more surprised about Rodman's selection. I am disappointed that Reggie Miller didn't make the Hall of Fame this year. He's the best shooting guard never to win a championship.

That said, Chris Mullin did not get into the Hall of Fame on the first ballot. This was actually the third consecutive year he was a finalist. The first two he came up short. I was listening to an interview with Chris where he talked about sitting by the phone the past three years. He talked about the honor of being a finalist each time, but the disappointment of hearing the official on the other end of the line tell him he had not been selected each of the first two years. This time the word came that he was elected and his reaction was, needless to say, markedly better.

This is actually Mullin's second time in the Hall of Fame as he was inducted as part of the original Dream Team. The greatness of that team is reflected in this-with Mullin's election, the only player from that team not to be inducted on their own at this point is Christian Laettner. I think Chris Mullin was well deserving of being elected to the HOF and I hope the voters correct their error this year by voting in Reggie next year. I always loved watching him, especially against the Knicks and Bulls.
