*The Nokia e90. The end of symbian series 80?

The specs on paper show the e90 to outshadow all of the the E series and 9000 series models, it even sheds the series 80 platform for symbian 9.x...... Is series 80 dead as we know it? Or do we need a press release like the ngage?

I think it's been made official that the future communicators will be a part of the S60 family. I think their sales figures will reflect that they've made the right choice. I've had the 9290, 9500, and 9300 and the E90 will be the one I finally keep.

S80 is dead - I dont remember seeing an official announcement, however I read in several places that since the new version of symbian is not 'compatible' with previous versions, so the few apps that were created for the S80 would not work with a symbian 9.x version of S80 - so in addition to going through the effort to update the S80 for symbian 9.x, all developers will need to re-release their apps. The user base for S80 is small compared to S60. in the end I think nokia made the best decision, but I really think I will miss the 4 buttons on the right hand side. If apps could be reworked to 'know' which screen they are displaying, this could allow for a different menu structure :-)
