Hi. The main reason we've not gotten an iPhone yet (besides Edge), is the tethering to a laptop issue. This would be needed once a week or a couple times a month - but it HAS to work well.
We need a phone (3g) that will accept the iPhone's SIM, tether to a laptop via cord (bluetooth would be a nice addition), to get internet on the laptop.
I know some folks have done this but I see posts from others with the same phone not being able to get data.
I'm asking for experiences with specific phones that work consistently and perfectly. Some phones I'm looking at:
Samsung Blackjack
Treo 750
AT&T 8525 (has wifi?)
Samsung A717, A727 (Sync?)
Nokia N75
Razr V3xx
Could anyone confirm 3g tethering for internet will work with the above?
Also, do we know if it's technically possible AT&T/Apple could somehow disable the iPhone's SIM to dissallow this in the future? I don't see how it's possible but it would be bad if it happened.
Thank you!
