OT Eternal September

The server was down for several hours today. I had several posts stuck in
limbo which have now belatedly appeared. So if they seem out of synch you
know why.

Here I recommended this server recently so of course it goes down. Very
unusual for them to go down like this though. There's no indication as to
why on their website but the bandwidth rate graph on their server status
page shows no activity for about six hours.

The UUCP host machine name should only apply to machines that relay
articles to each other (when news servers talk to other news servers
to exchange articles). It's not for client connections such as those
of us reading RFC and other groups.

But it's possible that uucp.* is just a synonym for another client
accessible computer. You should not have to (nor should you) use
uucp.* as your NNTP server. You should switch it to one of the other
servers mentioned on that page. The fact that you got it to work was
just co-incidence.

I suspect either it has something to do with your Ipad client compatability
or something isn't right in the account config on your end.

I have no idea why the uucp works.
