Does any of the Androids on T-Mobile act as a mobile hotspot?

I know the GSM carriers have been really stingy with having phones act as a mobile hotspot, but Sprint and Verizon love offering that feature. Does anyone know if any TMobile devices act as a mobile hotspot?

Does any of the Androids on T-Mobile act as a mobile hotspot?

I looked at the settings on the Samsung Vibrant and i dont see a Mobile Hotspot feature at all. Can someone guide me step by step and what to click on? Also, does anyone know if there is a monthly fee charged for using the mobile phone as a wifi hotspot?

I have a Vibrant and stock it wont let you use it as a hotspot. You have to Root it. And Yes there is a $15.00 monthly fee for activating hotspot through t-mobile. Funny you ask because I was on the phone with them yesterday talking about this same issue. Hope I helped.

Why would you pay $15/month? once you root it, wifi tethering is free. isn't it?

sorry guess I didnt clarify. If you root your Vibrant then you dont need to pay the monthly fee of $15.00. Which is what I did to my Vibrant. yes I have t-mobile and even if you have unlimited wed usage on your plan IT DOESNT COVER HOT SPOT. that will be an extra $15 buckaroos as I mentioned earlier. And how to Root your Vibrant. Check on XDA Developers.com they have great forums step, step instruction on how to root. BUT BE CAREFUL. Do it at your own risk it requires playing around with administrator rights.

I honestly don't know if they would automatically charge u if u tether. I have an unrooted MT4G and tether about 3 times a week and haven't gotten charged yet.

Do you truly need a hotspot or will tethering work? I have been using bluetooth DUN from my netbook to my D2G and it works well.
