Do people assume femininity as being weak and masculinity as being strong?

Sort of like how even tom boys are considered "stronger" than girly girls. It just seems people with masculine characteristics tend to be perceived as stronger while feminine characteristics are perceived as being weak.

Gender stereotypes are all over our society. Although they are not always true. But women have always been considered the weaker sex. And society tends to program that during our childhood.

But I've seen very "masculine" guys completely break down under stress. And I've known very "feminine" women be rock solid mentally.

Yes,because it is the truth. If you have a tomboy fight a girly girl you'll know who will win. Femininity is weakness.
