Will a Rogers sim card work on a fido or wind blackberry?

My phone is just about broken and I'm looking to buy a new phone because I still have one year left of my plan, I'm not allowed to get a hardware upgrade so I have to buy the phone at full price . I want to get the blackberry curve but Rogers sells it for 250$ , fido sells it for 200 and wins sells the newer version for 248
If I bought one of those phones and put my sim card in would it work??
And what does it mean to unlock a phone and can the company do it for you
And when I buy a new one will I still need to pay the activation fee even though I have a working sim card??
    Much help needed pls!!

The phone would have to be unlocked. The carrier may be willing to unlock it. Find out before you spend any money. If they won't, the unlock code may be available online for a price. Find out before you buy. There is no fee for switching phones. You simply pop in your sim card.

It may be a better idea to go shopping on eBay for an unlocked blackberry.
