    my 5230 is 100% de-branded

You have done that before so give it a try. I might pick one up again (used) if you can de-brand easily. Stock T-Mobile firmware is crap!

    my 5230 is 100% de-branded

I recently got the T-mob Nuron. Two main things bug me:
    1. Cannot force to 2G only. At work the coverage is generally bad and the phone keeps switching between 2G and 3G, losing the signal for 2-3 minutes in the process. By forcing to 2G the issue is much reduced.
    2. I am a frequent international traveler and often use other SIM cards. If I debrand the phone, will it accept other SIM cards?
    Thanks a lot.

    1. Yes you can force 3G or 2G only.

    2. De-branding has nothing to do with SIM unlocking. You need to call T-Mobile to get your unlocked code.

    my 5230 is 100% de-branded

:hehehe: Since I put handy shell on my phone, it seems to be more acceptable. I also have several apps installed + a few patches that speed up the phone quite a bit. Maybe on a rainy day :hehehe:

If SS gets helloox on it I may try it sooner.
I also want to know, if Ovi maps is integrated in the firmware, cause in the Wind firmware, it wasn't. (You could see it in the app manager)

    my 5230 is 100% de-branded

I must say that I am impressed with the debranded firmware.

Responsiveness is greatly improved, 3.5G speeds, Ability to further customize home screen(contacts bar, shortcuts bar, or basic), Timestamps on message previewing and no more t-mobile crap!

Just note that when you first debrand, you will need to update your apps(through Menu>Applications>S/W Update). This will give you a variety of things including Ovi Maps 3.4..

For those wanting to go back to the t-mobile firmware for whatever reason, I saved all the information about my phone before debranding..
T-mobile firmware will be product code 0592823

Thanks to everyone for ur help, this debranding was worth it

    my 5230 is 100% de-branded

It took a couple minutes to get locked on with GPS after debranding. So far I like it a lot better after debranding.
