No more talks of Symbian^4 as Symbian will be upgradable

    Great article! Thanks for posting.

good points "This gave rise to the situation we have today with a technically sophisticated and mature core OS, but a UI that is widely perceived as lagging behind. "

"As a result, the core OS of Symbian is comfortably the most sophisticated and technically capable of any of the major mobile platforms, primarily due to its maturity, experience in use and a heavy level of investment over the years."

    +1 Very good read.

Uiemo is now shelved/dead, but at least Nokia is working to have cross app functionality between Symbian & Meego. The latter IMO is extremely important because a device like the N900 was on its own island for the longest time. Now whenever the N9 gets launched, it should hopefully have more apps at launch than the N900 did...

I don't think he said that. He simply said that they aren't going to take symbian "in house". that's a very different thing. symbian foundation is being wound down. it does not have funding to continue. Symbian will continue. the foundation will not. Symbian should have been Android. It lost the battle. now it is becoming the "in house" smartphone OS of Nokia.
