    *OFFICIAL THREAD: Nokia 6650 (RM-324 6650d-1bH) NAM 3G 850/1900

I exchanged mine today... the lady said it sounded like it was my sim card that was the problem, but I don't know... I've had the sim card for a while and I didn't have a problem with it before... so I insisted on swapping the phone out (they only had one silver model left at the store), and we also changed my sim card just in case... After changing phones, I noticed that the build quality on my old phone was actually better than my new one... but it's too late now so I'm just gonna have to live with it till I change phones in a year or two... Have you guys ever heard of problems like I was having being due to the sim card?... I could've tried changing that first and waited a couple of days to see if it made a difference but I didn't want to have to come back again if she was wrong and I only have 30 days to decide if I want to keep it or not... so now I'm feeling like a jerk...

Oh yeah, I urge you guys to go to get.skyfire.com right now and download the new beta for your phone!... it'll say that the phone model isn't supported, but then just click on "not your phone?" and then pick Nokia N & E series S60 something or other... it totally works on this phone!... It's pretty awesome... Opera Mini and Skyfire together is hard to beat!...

I went to an AT&T store today to look at the 6650 and came away terribly disappointed. Too narrow, felt cheap, and what was that OS?! Then I realized I looked at the 6655. D'oh! Back tomorrow to see the real deal.

I really like my 6650. It's a pretty capable phone as long as you watch your RAM usage. Of course, I'd probably really hate it if I couldn't put MagicKeys on with a little hacking. The PTT and NAV key problems are pretty annoying.
It isn't going to appeal to many S60 fans, but will probably appeal more to Flip phone fans looking for more features.

I can't understand how so many people seem to be doing well with this phone. My wife and I got a pair of the 6650's about 3 months ago, and both started acting up about 6 weeks into ownership. Varied oddities like camera not working, not being able to send/receive mms messages, call log not working, strange beeping noises during calls, and subsequent dropped calls, ect, ect.

I sent me first phone back to AT&T under warranty replacement, and was going to do the same for my wife, but she dropped hers in the sink and therefore voided the warranty so we just chucked her phone in the garbage and considered it as a loss.

So then I used my replacement phone for about another 4-6 weeks, and AGAIN, same things started up with the damn phone! Not as bad as the first, but again my call log completely DOES not work, and the camera is shot. At least I do not get the strange beeping and dropped calls with this one.

Anyway, I am sending this one back again and will sell the replacement I receive. I am now using the Nokia E71, and will get my wife a similar phone.

I am just completely dumbfounded in how so many people are enjoying their 6650's and are not having any major issues with them! Is there ANYONE ELSE out there who as gotten lemons??? I've been posting in these forums since 2004 and have had many many phones throughout the years and I must say that this is by leaps and bounds the worst experience i personally have ever had with a phone - yet it seems very popular with others! :befuddled

The fact that Google Maps works with the GPS is a huge deal for me. I'll dump my RAZR2 V9 in a heartbeat!

When I use my 6650 to browse and download Opera Mini 4.2, it says it does not recognize my model and it redirects me to download Opera Mini 4.0.2. If I use my computer browser to download, it gives me a list of Nokia phones to select from and the 6650 flip is not in the list (the old 6650 model is).

Which model should I select that would be most compatible with the new 6650 flip?

I have been using the Opera Mini 4.0.2, but it has some limitations that 4.2 corrects.

    Thanks...
