There was no declaration of war by congress on Iraq. The violation of the U.N. sanction enabled Bush to send us there and topple their government (ie- war). Bush declared global war on terrorism which mainly consisted of Afghanistan fighting the Taliban. You're right.... it did start as a war in Iraq (which I said, and we WON against the Iraqi forces) and yes, it certainly isn't anymore. It's an occupation with both ideological issues and bloodshed conflict between local tribes, outside influence, U.S. forces, and disgruntled citizens. Bush linked terrorism to Iraq to persuade the American people to back him on the issue, but the assumption that the U.N. sanction was being broken is what gave the green light.
1. We won the war against the Iraqi forces - victory.
2. We are in an occupation which cannot be won or lost- those terms shouldn't even be used.
Now what about that don't you understand?
i just want anyone who thinks no good is being done, to go over there for 1 day.. 1 day is all it will take to see what good we have done..
and whats really awesome, is everyone reports on the shit we fucked up.. but NO one reports on the really good shit we do.. like in the horn of Africa. or elsewhere around the world
So let me get this straight: You're saying that because UN sanction was broken, we went ahead and attacked Iraq.
Even if they did break UN sanction, as far as I understand, we're not the UN. We're in it. So if they break UN sanctions, the UN is supposed to retaliate. Instead Bush went and declared war on terrorism and Iraq.
Yes, exactly. We went in with a coalition of forces, but it was mostly British and U.S.. The U.N. would have never invaded, plus their inspectors got kicked out anyway. This gave Bush the opportunity to take advantage of the situation.
How old are you?
Deal. I will go over there one day, and you spend one day with every family that lost a soldier or any other family member over there. That will keep you busy for about 10 years. Then you can spend a day with every soldier or any other person that wasn't killed, just wounded. That should keep you busy for another 13 years.
Then we can compare cost vs. worth.
Old enough to understand that you're an idiot
Wow, tell me where I'm wrong
I bet with the name mtnbikekid08 you were probably like 11 years old when we invaded Iraq.
You attacked his age and he attacked your intelligence. Sounds like a fair rebuttal.
