I have a bunch of yarn of unknown origin that was given to my mother and I when a neighbor's grandma passed. One type of the yarn had no labels on any of the skeins. Does anyone have an idea of how to find the brand without just taking one into a store and comparing it to ever skein there?

I don't think it is old because I have yarn from the 70s and 80s and it feels nothing like them. This yarn is very thin and 3 ply (which I think makes it a Light weight yarn...) It also feels like it might be a percentage of wool or something natural like that and is all in the brown range (though I know color doesn't have to mean anything, some brands only do certain ranges.) Oh! and it works alright with up to a size 6 needle but is all nice and tight and even with a 2 or 3.

I know this is probably an odd question but it is driving me nuts... So- Anyone have any tricks for figuring out brands?
