I've been researching how parents teach their kids about sex, and I've seen COUNTLESS books mentioned that you can give them. One parent actually commented, "It makes it so much easier for me because I don't have to explain as much, they can just look it up."
This is what's disturbing me. It's called "the talk", not "the book". All these parents are going to do is stress their children out even more. Think about it, you have a child caught up in the throes of hormones, who is already very confused and emotional, and then you leave them to navigate through a book, and practically fend for themselves? It also gives them a shame complex....they'll be wondering why their parents are so hestiant to talk about it, and they may draw the conclusion that it's bad or dirty.
Am I the only one who thinks this is a totally wrong and useless approach? Are there any parents out there who are NOT embarrassed to talk to their kids? What do you think of this?
