Problem with HTML code and floating divs?

I'm working on this web design:

Notice how the background (which looks like 4 vertical lines) suddenly stops at the picture and the 3 rows of "TESTING TESTING TESTING" - those are both floating divs, trying to be tableless here (have to for a class) - but I can't get the background to continue past. What am I doing wrong!? CSS is same URL but /style.css.
