An anonymous donor in Japan has left 10m yen ($131,000; ?83,000) to charity by dumping it in a public toilet. The money was found with a letter saying it should be donated to victims of the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan in March.

There were two things that shocked me about this story after living in a western culture, firstly the kindness and charity shown by one person and the honesty and righteousness shown by another. I know very few people who would donate that kind of money in the first place and I'm not sure how many people would just walk off with the cash if they found it in a public toilet. I can't understand why they didn't just donate it directly to a charity anonymously though.
