So. I'm in an Honors English course and I need to write a sonnet. It'd not due until December and we haven't gotten around to studying it. We did however study a little bit of it last year, and I wasn't good at figuring out how iambic pentameter works. I know the 14-line, 10 syllables in each line drill, and that a good rhyming scheme (though you can pick and choose) is ABABCDCDEFEFGG, but I can't get the iambic pentameter. Have I done it correctly in my sonnet below?

Your Love

A - Look at heaven's nature all around you
B - Look at the sunrise every single morn'
A - Many colors: red, orange, finally blue
B - Minutes pass, the colors fade, sky is born
C - Colors may fade from bright to bleary gray
D - My love for you stays bright and very true
C - Love is faithful; it will never betray
D - Through darkest of times, my love is for you
E - But, only pure love makes me desire more
F - Love and beauty stick in mind, just like glue
E - But who, you may ask, is this deep love for?
F - Oh, Lord, I lift this special prayer to you
G - Though I mess up life every single day
G - I know that you will never from me sway

Any tips and advice is readily accepted!
Serious Genius -- How so? I just kinda put some words together and hoped they worked. I tried googling how iambic pentameter works...but I still can't figure out.
