I just had to go to court to defend myself on an ordinance violation. The district attorney told me beforehand that there were two reasons why he couldn't help me. First, because I was the defendant and not the plaintiff. Second, because an ordinance isn't passed by state legislation nor is it signed by the governor so it isn't in effect a law. Meaning it isn't within the realm of his department to handle the case. But when I went to court, the prosecuting attorney for the plaintiff turned out to be the assistant district attorney. What gives?
