True conservatives think that government involvement constitutes waste and in many cases they're right. Pseudo conservative neocons however, spent us into oblivion... not only what we had, but also borrowed and spent that too.

Again, it is simply WHERE the money spent is going. In a time of supposed crisis, is it really a good idea to put billions toward more social programs and adding more unskilled workers to the government payroll? And as for all the "investment" in bridges, roads and parks...shouldn't we, instead, demand a full accounting of where all the money ALREADY collected for those thing went? And when the President talks about government retroactively setting private company salaries, does that really sound like someone focusing on RECOVERY or on exploiting public anger to get his party agenda pushed through?
So.. to maintain law and order the government needs to build a museum dedicated to organized crime in Las Vegas? To maintain law and order the government needs to spend hundreds of million replacing the grass on the mall? To maintain law and order the government needs to give political organizations hundreds of millions, or even billions, so they can continue drumming up voters for the DNC ( often done illegally )? No, that argument simply makes no sense. And it's hard to know if FDR caused the great depression or not, but what we do know is that his massive government spending policies didn't help and things got much worse and lasted unusually long after he started throwing money around.
Republicans love to spend. Just look at the recent history of Reagan, Bush Sr, and Bush Jr. All three set new records for government growth and spending. The difference is that Republicans like to spend in the areas (military, oil, banking) that reward their base (rich, white, and corporations).
Government spending isn't bad. Its where your spending it. This bill is not a stimuli's bill, Its a democrat grab bag. There isn't enough spending on infrastructure here. All of you Dem's need to realize that the government doesn't own you or your money. They dont produce anything. We are a nation with a government , not a government with a nation. They work for us! more programs = democrat votes. Republicans want people to PURSUE happiness, not be given it in the form of government housing and food stamps and such. Whats the matter, You to stupid to live your own life. What happened to American grit! You lazy bums make me sick. Gimme Gimme Gimme
they don't want the best for others. I lived near a bunch of Jerry Springer republicans when I was just starting out in my adult life. They want to put everyone down just look in the data base here at the immature comments. They think competitively & have inferiority complexes so the only way to feel up is top put others down. They don' t understand the motives behind the people who put out programs like Rush & fox programs. They can't see that it was not good that our last President took off with at lease 2 trillion dollars & this is money that went out of circulation. They don't understand that spending is good if it gives a person something of value like education & they they then send the money on to others. The can't see that the education then helps a person be an innovator. We need people to come up with something we can sell to other countries. I think many of them long for the past instead of seeing we only live now. My answer is summed up in one word Ignorance
it is if it nor for defense and health care in other word to protect the American people and not to keep ANY BUSINESS RUNNING. that what make inflation and monopoly and corruption
Uh, no. What Republicans are opposed to is government spending on what amounts to 'cow flatulence studies'. What you suggest is that this stimulus package is paying for the essentials of government, the functioning of our nation. It is not. Such things are built into the general budget and have been regularly funded for decades. Contrary to what Barry is telling you and his loyal followers, our schools are not crumbling and work on our nations physical infrastructure is and has been on going, again, for decades. What the democrats propose is spending on non-essentials and make work programs that are outside the purview of their responsibility. $400 million on STD awareness? How many millions on African aid? A few million to plant more grass seed at the national monument? You see, your mistake is in thinking that the government spends your money responsibly. I do not. There has been too much evidence of that. But perhaps that is the basic difference in our philosophies. You believe the government is the solution to our problems, I believe the government is part of the problem and that the people are the solution. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. But I hope you have plenty of grandkids cuz someone is going to have to pay your tab.
They're ignorant. It's that simple.
Because they want to keep it all for themselves. They have, however, no problem spending everyone else's money on "security" and "keeping our freedoms safe."And you're right, the Democrats ARE more responsible party...Republicans have actually INCREASED the size of the gov't yet they are still yelling about less gov't. They are all deluded.
