What's the highest number of children born to one woman in recorded history?

Do you mean at one time, or over her lifetime? At one time I am pretty sure its 8. Over her lifetime, I don't know. Maybe 20 or 25? Maybe more? Probably in a culture that does not know about birth control.

Whatever the answer, my question is why people keep trying to break the record? These people aren't having kids, they are having litters. It's disgusting!
