Is a record destroyed if it gets wet?

A stack of records were inadvertently thrown away a few weeks ago. After a day or two in the dumpster they were retrieved, but apparently it rained while they were still outside. When I started looking through the records today, they were all sopping wet. My guess is that they are all history, but I wanted a second opinion. If they aren't a total loss, could you please tell me a way to safely dry them.

They should be fine unless they got dirt on them or got scratched.Get a micro-fiber cloth and gently wipe them in a circle with the grooves. If there is gunk/dirt on them, rinse them with lukewarm water (not hot) and don't scrub them.
