I have a Civic coupe auto-trans.

Upon starting the car, for some reason the stick is hard if i try to shift out of park. Not to mention the brake-peddal is very tight.
When I was able to forcefully get the gear out of park (using that little tab next to the shifter), it doesn't seem to matter what gear i am in. The car just goes forward. Even if it's in the R or N gear, it goes forward. Last time i smelled smoke.
I'm forced to shut it off and use the emergency brake.

Here's my problem.
There is a car parked bumper-to-bumper in front of me. Worse yet, it hasn't moved in 2wks. Yet, I have tons of space behind me.

I would drive it myself to the mechanic's if the car parked in front of me would MOVE!!
My question is- is my car safe to tow (since apparently is seems caught in a forward gear) from behind??
The mechanic seemed confused when i tried to explain this and I still don't think he understood.
Thanks.
