In fifties and sixties it was perfectly normal for American and European women to stay home and raise their kids. They were not required to have income, career or college degrees, or wait until their late forties to start a family. Somehow having 4-5 kids per woman and not working did not lead to poverty or economic problems, but on the contrary, was accompanied by unprecedented wealth accumulation and economic growth.

Today young women get trashed and assulted for having kids before they
finish college and get a job. Especially pregnancy during teen years is totally frown upon, because young ladies are expected to finish college and start working before they have a child. ( as if they can continue working with babies crawling all over them or they desperately need those college degrees to change diapers).

I wonder how come attitudes have changed in such a drastic way and who decided that women now are obliged to deal with enormous stress of raising families and building careers all at the same time, while it became perfectly normal for men to be irresponsible, not seriously burdened with any family or work obligations and just hopping from woman to woman till their late thirties.
