    Dogs barking problems

A few weeks ago I had a letter from the council advising there had been a complaint about my 2 dogs barking after I leave for work. I worked with them and put a few things in place which limited their barking down to half hour after I leave.

The complainant was happy and the council closed the complaint down.

Had a letter this morning, advising that they've re-opened the case and that animal welfare had been called in! I am gutted as in the letter it states they can ban me from having dogs in my flat so I'd have to re-home my two JRT's. My dogs do bark for a bit when I leave but that's all that is wrong, they're always very quiet when I'm home and are friendly girls.

The complainant is notorious for complaining about people's dogs and is home all day waiting for something to happen so he can complain.

I just don't know what to do now that I'm not already doing

    Dogs barking problems

We have a similar situation - we have a dog tied up in a back garden near us - and constantly barks day and night and it is doing our heaRAB in. It wakes us up at 5am quite often... I can see how this is annoying...

If your dogs cannot be kept quiet I agree with the person complaining...

We have 2 dogs ourselves and they rarely bark - but never late at night etc.

    Good luck getting it sorted..

Perhaps look at getting a dog behavioural therapist in to see if they can do anything. Can you get anyone to visit them in the day for half an hour to limit the time they're on their own?

I'm surprised that the neigrabroadour agreed to have them barking for half an hour after you leave, but their daily routine is irrelevant if your dog is causing a nuisance.

If you feel your doing everything you can, and the problem is still there, then it's time to either move away from the neigrabroadours that your disturbing, and potentially disturb your new neigrabroadours, or just get rid of the dogs that (IMO) haven't been trained correctly. (We have a jack russell in the house who is silent apart from when my little brother is playing with her)

How do you know who the complainant is?

Maybe try and speak to the complainant and resolve it amicably as ultimately they can make your life a nuisance if they want and you may be able to win them over
