Despite the lack of evidence, I hold on to the story of them falling in love.

OY. Their story is just so beautiful. I'm going to see it again within the hour, so I'm sure I'll be back and squee'ing and crying about them all over again.
Very much agree. And when he named his daughter Jane. :sigh: I'm just like: Aww!
So true. I didn't think I was going to like the ending, because I knew Jane never married, but I think the ending was done rather well, and tastefully, too.
Aww! I just saw this movie the other day! They were so great! Such a bittersweet ending though!

Quotes:
Tom: (Jane is reading her work, Tom mutters) Good God, there's writing on both sides of those pages.
Tom: If you wish to practice the art of fiction, to be considered the equal of a masculine author, then your horizons must be... widened.
Tom: I think that you, Miss Austen, consider yourself a cut above the company.
Jane: Me?
Tom: You, ma'am. Secretly.
Tom: You dance with passion.
Jane: No sensible woman would demonstrate passion if the purpose were to attract a husband.
Tom: As opposed to a lover?
Tom: How can you, of all people, dispose of yourself without affection?
Jane: How can I dispose of myself with it?
Jane: (after just kissed him) Did I do that well?
Tom: Very. Very well.
Jane: I wanted, just once, to do it well.
Tom: I am yours, heart and soul. What good that is.
Jane: Let me decide that.
Jane: Could I really have this?
Tom: What, precisely?
Jane: You.
Tom: Me, how?
Jane: This life with you.
Tom: Yes.
Tom: What value will there ever be in life if we aren't together?
