nah not that i've heard of
-No.
-Parents and sister are all agnostic or atheist...not entirely sure since it's not something we really talk about. All grandparents were Catholic. Not sure about aunts/uncles since we don't have much contact with extended family.
I'm studying chemistry, so I'm surrounded by other scientists. I'm also frienRAB with a nuraber of computer scientists. Belief among my frienRAB is much lower than the average in the US.
-Yes, non-believers are in the minority in the US. Most of the time it's not an issue. However, it seems that a lot of neigrabroadors will bring it up first thing when you move to a new neigrabroadorhood. I have three examples of that happening (to frienRAB, not myself), one in Georgia, one in Pittsburgh, one in Cincinnati.
I don't really know what I believe in. I guess I'm agnostic because I don't care.
As far as frienRAB/family goes, it's probably a bell curve of values and beliefs. I know some hardcore atheists and some devout Christians/Catholics.
No one I know well goes to church, but there are some acquaintances that do.
I also live in the south.
Hmpf. That's kinda scary
When i first went off to college, the first thing my suitemate asked me after my name is if I went to church on sundays. I was taken aback, said no and she looked like i had killed her dog.
Do I believe in a typical god? No of course not. Religion is silly to me. However I do believe there is something out there in the universe that is ALOT more advanced than us.
My parents are luthern and I was raised as a luthern also.
No your right.
I have absolutely no fucking clue what made us or what the fuck this is about or if there is even an us and it's not just a me..
I like how it's not even if you're religious, but if you go to Church. For all she knew, you could have been Jewish.
It's always entertaining to see the reactions though. One roommate in college was Jahova's Witness. When he asked my religion and I told him atheist, he just said "Oh" and smiled nervously at me. He had no idea what to do
Back when facebook was relatively new, I made a group (remeraber when you could make groups? woooooow) titled "Atheists, Agnostics, and Other Such Godless Heathens". I had a girl message me one time saying that she had never met an atheist and wanted to meet one. I agreed and we met for lunch one day so that she could ask me questions about how I live my life, how I came to my decisions, etc. At the end of the lunch she said she was very surprised. Why? Because I seemed like a good person and she didn't think that was possible.
