No balanced budget amendment ... so let's face it, this shit WILL happen again.

Oh boy, yet ANOTHER committee. Obama appointed one not to long ago and totally IGNORED their recommendations.

No mention of taxes and if they would be increased or not. THAT is a major issue.

Obama gets to skate through the election without this being an issue hung around his neck. That's all he cares about, playing "kick the can" with the debt just long enough to try to get reelected. Boehner is a fucking moron to give up that leverage to get him to actually ACT on the problem.

I think if the credit rating lowered its going to based upon the new political economy as much as anything.

that a few days before the ceiling is to be reached we still dont have a deal. that the ceiling being raised is no longer a given....

In terms of tax code, it really is a no brainer to simplify it. The truth is, the people who write these exceptions and loopholes will never stay ahead of the Ivy league guys looking to abuse the system. Simpler is better.
