My sago palm which is fairly small has new growth coming from the center. The new growth looks like pipe cleaners, not like the regular fronds. They are fuzzy and sort of beige-white. This is my first plant, so I was wondering what these structures are. Do they turn into the green prickly fronds, or are they something else? Also, there are 2 strange looking white structures that are located near the surface of the soil attached to the roots. They look like a bunch of tiny cotton balls stuck together. I am curious about what those are as well. This is a walmart $9.00 deal, so it could be anything from ebola to mad cow disease, but I assume it is something reproductive. Does anyone know? I would prefer that the person who responds actually grows these. Thanks in adavnce.
