Employment history needed for mortgage approval?

My husband worked for 13 years in the UK and Europe before moving to the US and waiting to get his Green Card. He has received his Green Card and working here in the US for a total of 6 months now, in the same line of work that he did in the UK and Europe. We are being told that he needs two years of work history here in the states before we can be approved for a mortgage even though we both have good credit scores (he was placed on accounts to build his score quickly) and have plenty of income to be approved. Is there any way around the employment history that is need? If so, how do we go about the process since the agent we are speaking to now feels it is not possible. Thanks

Sadly its virtually the same all over the world these days unless you have atleast 2 years work history the under writers won't issue the finance to your agent which I think is wrong here in the UK its getting very hard just to borrow ?500 let alone ?125000 or ?250000 on a mortgage

Every resident in the US is required to have 2 years of steady employment.
You could maybe get around this with a conventional loan.
This would require 20% as a down payment.
If you have this cash, talk to a bank. Not an agent.

    What is your job history?
Only ONE of the couple needs to meet the 2 year job history
Lenders prefer a 2 year history with one employer, but will settle for 6 months or more, as long as there's a 2 year continuous history in industry
Remember getting a loan is NOT a right, you are the petitioner
