I bought the bike last week,it's a 2000 marauder 800 the ends of the pipes were cut off by a previous owner to make it louder I suppose. So they rejetted the carbs and I was told they messed with the factory air/fuel mixture screws. Well, the bike starts up and the idling jumps around until the bike is warm. Then it idles fine. It is running rich because I just replaced the fouled plugs and there is soot in the exhaust. When riding, if I let off the throttle there is a lot of gurgling and popping in the exhaust. The throttle is also jumpy at first touch. As in, when i ease on the throttle it does nothing, then all of a sudden revs very high, then settles to normal. I'm assuming this is a problem with the carbs, I'd like to avoid taking it to a shop, what do I need to do? If anyone knows of an online service manual that would help too!
