I live in a more rural college, but still with over 10,000 students. The food is all you care to eat with a meal plan. However, I know someone who recently got hired there and she says all the leftovers get thrown out in the garbage. That's not to mention all the food students throw out just because they pile on food and don't eat all of it.

I really don't like it. Food shouldn't be thrown out in the garbage. There are millions of people in the world starving, as well as animals.

Is there anything I can do in this situation? Sure talking to the managers would be essential, but I would want to know first if there's some way to resolve this. Food spoils of course, and since we live almost in the middle of no where, sending the food away would be difficult. And I don't know if there are any people around here that would take leftovers. Not to mention I'm sure the college doesn't want to go out of their way to transport food or get involved in complicated processes.
