I'm going to be a sophomore 2012-2013 and I am in marching band. Freshman year I played cymbals which I hated but our drumline had very good drummers so I was not able to play bass drum or snare which I actually liked. This year there were 2 openings for snare and I was able to get a spot. Ever since I saw and heard the marching snare freshman year, I was captivated and it has been my dream to play snare since then (band geek I know lol). Now that I have a spot though I am not very confident playing because the rest of the snare drummers are amazing. I can play the songs we've been given for the upcoming year but I hesitate while playing and then I get off rhythm. I am very motivated and practice music a lot and I know I can play it right, but I cannot muster up any confidence. The problem is that if I don't play confidently and well, I will lose my spot and be back on some boring auxiliary percussion. Tips?? Thanks in advance!!!
