Crank the AC and remember to hydrate today because on the first official day of summer it is going to be hot and humid.
The National Weather Service has issued heat advisories in several areas around the state today as temperatures threaten to rise into the high 90s amid extremely high humidity.
The record for the highest temperature on June 20 since 1872 is 98 degrees, set in 1953.
The weather service reported the temperature for Boston Logan Airport at 93 degrees at 2:54 p.m.
Overnight temperatures are expected to fall into the 70s.
Thursday will be just as stifling, with temperatures expected to hit 100 degrees in Western Massachusetts while humidity will remain uncomfortably high, the weather service said.
The City of Boston is urging residents to check on elderly neighbors, keep hydrated, and limit strenuous activities while trying to spend time in shaded or air conditioned areas.
