Oracle Corp. (ORCL) Chief Executive Officer Larry Ellison has purchased 98 percent of the Hawaiian island of Lana’i.
“It is my understanding that Mr. Ellison has had a long standing interest in Lana’i,” Governor Neil Abercrombie said in a statement today. “His passion for nature, particularly the ocean is well known specifically in the realm of America’s Cup sailing,” he said. “We look forward to welcoming Mr. Ellison in the future.”
Deborah Hellinger, an Oracle spokeswoman, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
