Could anyone recommend a good book about the history of modern computing; say from the 1950's to the 21st Century.

Not really looking for much jargon about how programming works. I really want to get to know the zeitgeist of the times, to get inside the heads of the people, what they thought and dreamt about the future of this newly discovered frontier (and of course the dirty foul play).

The books I've glanced over appear to only give a biographical account of Microsoft, and are written over 10 years ago! Because computing is a very fast evolving subject, I fear many are somewhat 'outdated' when concluding where computing may be heading.
