I just have been TV shopping for a small TV. I found many cheap TVs that I considered getting from brands like Dynex, Insignia, Coby, Craig, Westinghouse, Hisense, etc. Did a little research though and they seem to be hit or miss.

Meanwhile, the more expensive TVs are brands like Samsung, Sony, Panasonic, etc. Reviewers seemed satisfied.

In the end, I bought a Samsung 22" TV for about $180 plus tax......it was on sale. I could have gotten an Insignia 32" for $200 plus tax, but it seemed unreliable. Much bigger size though.

So what makes the "mainstream" brands so much better than the "off" brands? And I'm hoping that this TV will be able to last for a few years......did I make the right choice or should I have gone the cheaper route?
Oh, and I'm not too picky on picture and sound......just as long as the TV works to the point where I can see and hear is fine.

And the one I got is an HDTV.
