does DVD writers like LG or Samsung has any DVD burning quantity limits? or it works life long?

I want to know does a DVD writer has some limitation to burn dvds up to a limited quantity? or it can be use life long?
If u go through the catalog of DVD writer, some brands are mentioned that this dvd writer has a life to write up to 2,000 or 3,000 dvds (I want to know exact fig.).
