    Can you be nostalgic for something you have never actually experienced?

    For example: A teen from 2012 feeling nostalgic for like the 20s-70s eras in terms of films, music, photography, fashion, literature

    the actually definition of nostalgia would say NO.

    one could wish they had been alive then, or in that country, at that time/place.
    similar to but NOT nostalgia. one could even relate to , envy, dream of those things one did not experience personally. but nostalgia really is not the right word.
