I'm talking about observational assessments in the class room (thinking about young children here), such as running and anecdotal records, class list logs, portfolios, frequency checklistsm self esteem logs... or really any kind of approaches to observe and record the development process of young children.

Why do you think assessments are an important tool when looking at a child's growth and progress, and what kinds of assessment you think give the best and most information?
