Nokia: Can i download Nokia maps on my computer and then transfer to a memory card and use it in symbian ph ?

NOkia allows phone downloading but does nokia map work when stored on a memory card ?

I will only buy a symbian phone if this is possible, because downloading on computer is easier and faster then by a phone ? Can maps be used in NOKIA drive from the memorycard ? Or does it need the phone memory only ?
