Weird Phobia - Is it normal? Why do I have it?

Hey, basically, I have a huge fear of peacocks and chickens,
I'm not 100% sure why, But I think It may have something to do with the fact that my great-grandmother used to have peacock feathers in her bathroom..
    Does anyone share this phobia?
Does anyone know why I have it?
    Is it normal?
    Thanks :]
    xx

i think people have phobias because of things that happened in their childhood so probably whatever memories of your grandmother's peacock feathers bring up some fears. usually they are connected with an unpleasant event or something that freaked you out and that is why now you have the phobia. and yes it's very normal in that most people have all kinds of diff phobias so don't worry.

Well, I'm sure like any bird. Peacocks and chickens can easily bite and scratch. Hurts when they do too so don't worry. It's understandable.

It is called ornithophobia, fear of birds.

No your not weird, I had a girlfriend who was afraid of crows, she would actually start crying if they were around.

If it is affecting your life, then there are treatments that can help you over come the fears. If it is just peacocks and chickens, well depending on where you live they should be pretty easy to avoid.

Why you have it, will have to come from therapy, something might have traumatized you as a kid. A therapist can help you get to the root of the problem if you want.
