trying to fix brakes. 1994 honda accord. rear brake shoes. I can't get the drum off.?

I can't get the rear wheel drum off. I tried prying it but no good. The parts shop said turn the brake adjuster but there was no hole to adjust the star. It's being real stubborn. How do I remove the brake drum?

I've had this problem before. You just need to bang at the edges of the drum all around with a hammer. You have to hit it pretty hard but don't go crazy.

Does it turn? If so beat the crap out of it with a hammer, or if neccessary heat it with a torch.

EDIT: If the hammer does not work then try getting a specific drum puller from the parts store, is there no cap covering the hole so you cna get to the adjuster? All that has happened is a ridge has formed probably and the shoes need to be adjusted past the ridge on the drum.

Borrow or rent a drum brake puller from Auto Zone. Use WD-40 on the hub.

The star adjuster hole is on the backing plate near the top. You have to remove a rubber plug to get to the adjuster.
Turn the adjuster with a brake spoon or small screwdriver.
You might need to push back on
adjuster lever to get the adjuster to turn.

On the rear drums there should be 2 threaded holes opposite each other.
    They are 10mm x1.25 or 10mm x1.50.
Use 2 bolts about 1 1/2" long. Tighten each bolt evenly and the drum should pop off.

If there's no way to release adjuster and the drum is only held on by groove cut in drum by wear then you have to pry far enough to cut or break shoe retainers, buy hardware kit, but sometimes the access window for adjuster star is in the front of drum not necessarily thru the backing plate.

You DID release the handbrake, didn't you?
If there's rear backing plate access to the adjuster, it probably has a rubber plug in it to keep dust out.
