Can a sports hernia be healed without surgery?

I've been out for almost three months with a sports hernia and want to get back into a workout routine as soon as possible. However, I'd prefer not to go under the knife. Any suggestions? Can rest, compression and/or ultrasound therapy work??

I doubt it. It is really a minor surgery and if you let it continue, it can turn into something major. I wouldn't play any sports until you get checked---be smart.

if you suspect a hernia, or have had one diagnosed, have the operation. i have had one myself and despite initial discomfort, you are up and about and functioning relatively normal within a day or so. if you are fit and healthy recovery should be quick.

Dont have it done and you face the risk of either more elaborate sugery if it gets bigger, resulting in a longer lay off. Also is the risk of hernia strangulation which can cut off the blood supply. This results in emergency surgery and can prove fatal if not treated immediately!
