I won a small claim court judgment against someone but is not paying me?

what do I do in case he left the country for mexico. Can that judgment prevent him from rentering the U.S? how do I collect my money. He was here as a student and i think he might have left for mexico.

Each state has different mechanisms for enforcing judgments. International enforcement of judgments is possible but very complex and very expensive. The judgment will not prevent him from re-entering the u.s. As a practical matter, if he is outside the u.s. and has no assets in the u.s., you will just have to wait.

If he left the country you're screwed unless he left behind possessions which you might attach and sell at auction to recover whatever you can of your loss.

Based on what I was told in regards to my small claims case, you can pursue him for the money if you know his place of employment, or his bank, then you can have the local authorities go to those places for the money, otherwise you can take comfort in knowing that your winning case remains against him, till he pays for the next 20 yrs, effecting his future credit. Good luck !
