I am looking at this local big name dealer at 1996 toyota corolla that they have listed at $4841. It has only had one owner, clean car fax report, maintained well, maintenance 3-4 times a year, drives well, BUT it is 14 years old and has minor (very) interior & body dings.

Will they laugh if offer $2800 or $2900?

Also, what common major mechanical problems would an older toyota have and what sounds or clues should I be looking or listening for?

My dad says no way he wouldn't pay a penny over $2000 and that is pushing it. Please help me decide! Advice & criticism are both welcome.

Thanks,
