is this a trap or a test?

so i have been chatting with a girl for 7 months now, and she admitted that she liked me beyond just friends. I also said i liked her more then that

i also talk to her best friend on occasion, and the day before she admitted it, he said something like: i know 2 (girls) friends with benifit
maybe you could join.......
and i said no, thank you im not interested, he tried again little later and i refused again.....

for some reason i think its connected or im just being paranoid.
but maybe he wanted to get me away from her
or they both were testing me.....
and i think i passed the test O_o

what do you think?
was it a test how honest i was toward her?

If it was a test, I wouldn't get worked up.

If it wasn't a test, well...good job .

I think a girl ALWAYS consults her friends before admitting she likes someone, if nothing else just to tell them how great you are and why she likes you...so I'm sure before she told you she liked you she told him if he really is her best friend.

It could be 1 of 2 things.

1.) He asked you on his own accord to make sure you are worthy of her admiration.

2.) She had him ask you to make sure you weren't the FWB type of guy.

Regardless, he definitely knew that she liked you when he asked..its just whether or not she put him up to it or not.

Call me paranoid, but that's just a little too much of a coincidence for me haha.

its hard to tell if it was a test but if that's what they were doing you passed. I would let her know what her best friend was trying to do just in case it wasn't a test. It also could be that he likes her and wants you to stay away from her because he wants her.
